Go for it, esp if you pay the electricity bill. Much sharper and easier on the eyes. Look aroudn online for somthing you can afford, and get as low a response time as you can, esp if you are watching movies.
Good luck with the trip and I'll holler to the man upstairs to make sure you get there in one piece.
Well, I pay no elec bill. Problem is I need to find on fast, as I can't get on til I have it. Maybe I can find a cheapo loaner somewhere. Considering buying secondhand, get a disposable big one, looking at LCDs, they seem to cost a hell of a lot for what you get
Then buy a cheapo CRT from walmart if you can't see yourself buying a LCD. Though after a year of owning one they usually pay for themselves in power savings. If you go from a 19" CRT to a 19" LCD. Or a 17 for a 17. Pay up front now, enjoy more cash later. And if you can, buy online or go to a major chain.
Guy at the campus tech store said he gcould get me a 17" lcd for under 400..aon that note, is an 8ms refresh rate good?
Even better, I found a store nearby that sold me a used 17" flatscreen crt for 100$ ^_^ 30 day warranty, cheap enough to leave behind if I have to. My arms are so tired I can barely type now :/

Yeah lcds are coo, but like Antimatter says up there, get low response time for movies and games (if you happen to play them).
