Harry Potter is over. I mean, there's still two more movies, but we all know what happens in them. I'm kind of sad, but not terribly so. I thought I'd feel more upset about it, but I'm not. We still have fanfiction, and that's actually most of the fun. Considering it's good. Anway, I have ramblings.
The Good
- Loved the Dumbledore backstory. It's neat to see that Dumbledore was human and not all sunshine and roses. I also love that he cried. It somehow made me feel like he was a person.
- Molly frickin' Weasley man. "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" Love it to pieces.
- Dudley saying that Harry wasn't a waste of space made me "awwwww". That was adorable.
- Percy came back! I was hoping he would. I feel bad for hating him throughout the last two books, especially since he saw his little brother die. That's horrible.
- The Malfoys were cool. I liked that they cared more for their family than the Dark Lord. Narcissa was wonderful in pretending Harry was dead.
- Neville kicked some serious ass! Yay Neville!
- Hagrid survived, which was nice. A lot of people survived that I thought would die. Sadly, I predicted Remus.
- Snape was goooood! At this point I go "HA! I knew it!"
- Voldemort died. Yay Voldemort!
The Bad
- Dobbyyyyyyy! His death was so random. I mean, I know Bellatrix is evil and all, but why kill one of the most innocent characters in the whole damn book? That just... killed all hope. Hedwig too. That was horrible. Made me think of if someone killed my cat. I'd kill them back.
- Random deaths were so blah. Fred died by explosion? And Remus and Tonks were just kind of... dead. No explanation. I want to imagine something heroic on Remus' part, but that's for fanfiction.
- The end felt rushed to me. Loved the details of the battle, don't get me wrong, but it felt kind of pasted together and whatnot. She could've let us at least see Remus die, or gave Fred a better death.
- The middle dragged. Camp, walk around, camp, look for Horcrux, camp, almost die, camp again for a change of pace... it got old. Then the Gringotts scene was really hard for me to understand for some reason. I had to read each paragraph at least twice to get it. I was so confused.
- Didn't have much about Andromeda or Ted (before he died). I wanted to know more about them, since we know so much about the other two sisters. Same with Neville's parents. I kinda wanted to hear more about what they were like. She said everything would be wrapped up, but I don't think it was. Too much left open.
- Ron's betrayal. What was that? It felt really unnecessary and stupid to me.
- Remus being a coward. Not cool, JK. Not cool. And what's this about his wedding and a kid? Rushed much? Didn't have enough pages? I really don't get why it all had to happen. Plus the Remus/Tonks makes me gag.
- Snape died T_T I found him horribly tragic. Poor guy. Though, he seemed pretty damn selfish throughout the whole thing. He only did it because he loved Lily, not because he actually liked Harry. It was kinda blah.
- Ew. Harry/Ginny. Though I caught a little Harry/Draco in there. But with the Harry/Ginny shadowing almost everything I couldn't quite tell.
- Not long enough, really. I was expecting an encyclopedia.
The Ugly
- Epilogue. That gave me a bit too much of a sunshine and daisies feeling. I want to know what happened to everyone else. What happened to George? Lucius, Hermione's parents, the rest of the Weasleys, other students fighting. Where did they all go? I was disappointed.
Okay. I'm done. It's over, but it feels sort of empty with that stupid epilogue.
