I was very, very happy (and Gavin Newsom is my graduation speaker tomorrow, so I imagine he'll be happy too), but sadly I also think the country has changed since 2004, and not for the better. There is a strong conservative base here, esp. in SoCal, and I feel like they're just going to come out in stronger numbers than ever because "STOP IT NOW" is so much more likely to get voters in the box than "hm, I guess it's fine by me." :(
What I thought was interesting was that the same judge who nullified the marriages in 2004 was the one who wrote the decision on this. His idea, according to the Times, was that the cases needed to come up through the courts.
