The productive part of the day was finalising my
springtime_gen fic, which
fluffyllama beta read for me. Editeditedit.
It was a cool day. I haven't been outside yet, and haven't missed it.
I signed up for
reversathon, and did some work on prompts for the
sshg_exchange.
I still have the cold (and cough and junk in my throat and and and), but at last I feel fine!
Reading bits of DH, the scene where McGonagall is sending the students to safety (and there's no one else in the school yet beyond staff and students, plus Harry and friends), I find this: Slowly the four tables emptied. The Slytherin table was completely deserted, but a number of older Ravenclaws remained seated while their fellows filed out; even more Hufflepuffs stayed behind, and half of Gryffindor remained in their seats, necessitating Professor McGonagall’s descent from the teachers' platform to chivvy the underage on their way.
"Absolutely not, Creevey, go! And you, Peakes!"
What happened to, all Muggleborns are banned from Hogwarts and, along with older Muggleborns, are being persecuted (to death, it seems probable) by Umbridge and the Muggleborn Registration Commission? How did a 16yo get in without being bundled off home to such safety as the Muggle world might afford?
Am I years behind the rest of fandom in not having noticed this? Admittedly, it's bothered me from the start how Colin Creevey found out there was a Battle of Hogwarts to get killed in, never mind how he turned up before it started, but I never noticed before that JKR explicitly contradicted her own plot.
