I really should find a good cross posting method. I like too many of LJ's functions to entirely give it up, and I do have one of the early adopter & permanent accounts...
Heh, Yes that is where I get my user icon from, but despite what it claims in the opening sequence; it bears no resemblance to the books of E.E. "Doc" Smith other than borrowing the name of a few characters. It did admittedly have some of the best computer graphics for it's day (back in 1984)... I prefer the books for any character and story references. (They came in 2nd to Asimov's Foundation series for the All-Time Best Hugo award.)
Maybe with some luck JMS will finally get the project he's been working on since 2008 off the ground...
"Children" is the last official Lensman book. (Although Vortex Blaster is supposed to be in the Lensman universe) After that there are the David Kyle Books (about the non-human Lensman): The Dragon Lensman (Worsel, the Velantian) Lensman from Rigel (Tregonsee, the Rigellian) Z-Lensman (Nadreck the Palainian)
(I read them ages ago, but have long since lost my copies and they're out of print & hard to find. They weren't bad from what I remember).
Red Lensman was a proposed book for David Kyle, but was never made. It was also the nickname for Clarissa MacDougall.
