Ducks are awesome, and ducklings are very cute. Though you do have to be careful when trying to raise one as they can be messy. We reared one a long time ago and it kept standing in its good then walking all around where it was kept trampling the newspaper.
And there's nothing wrong with not getting immediately to work, the ducks have obviously helped you feel better which is just as important

We used to raise chickens back at home (I grew up in a farmhouse, of sorts). Every year, baby chicks. They are fluffy brown balls of cuuuuute!

Though I figure I can do better next time.
Another trip is needed me thinks
