I'm not entirely sure what the cause of this is, but I have noticed that in the last month or so my memory, both long-term and short-term, has been getting worse ( Read more... )

Speak to your GP about it.

My memory's never been that brilliant, particularly for details of other people's lives (I blame the lack of socialisation during my teenage years), and a few years back I was harangued into getting it checked because it seemed to be deteriorating.

It's a touchy subject for me, what with having a grandpa who suffered from (possibly) Alzheimer's.

Anyway, the doctor gave me a quick memory test and gave me a clean bill of health.

I still have an occasionally bitty memory, but nothing to be worried about.

The thing that puts me off going to my GP is that I've had this before, and it's usually depression related. They'll tell me my levels of concentration are probably down (although this time probably more from going ZOMG HOUSING WORK AHHHH rather than 'I'm so ronry') and as such I'm not remembering things.

Then they'll take a blood sample to check if it's my thyroid. This sounds perfectly logical and reasonable, if it weren't for the fact that every time I go for anything I end up with one of these checks! XD They're meant to be once a year! I manage about once every two months and it's never changed.

I know, wah wah wah, I should still go.

There are, I'm assured, things one can do that improve memory. Sadly, my brain stores only useless trivia and thus I cannot remember what they might be.
