Oh the trilogy is really a good read!
Bartimeus' footnotes are amongst the funnier bits of literature I've ever read...
I guess it's not as popular as other fantasy series only because there isn't a movie (yet), but it's really good for people who likes to read:)
(I hope you don't mind my pointing it out, but the author's name is Stroud)

Yeah, those footnotes are so hilarious. :D
I hope they'll never make a film out of those books, they probably would ruin them, anyway. Films made of books I like have nearly always disappointed me.

Ah, thanks a lot for pointing out the typo, I've already corrected it.

Yes, you're totally right about the movies from books. The only one I really feel lived up to expectation is Stardust, and it's only because Neil Gaiman is a god and also had his saying in the script.
Don't even get me started about "The neverending story"... I can maybe forgive the first movie as it holds childhood memories for me, but the sequels were despicable.
The only good thing is that maybe, if they like the movie, children will give the book a try.

Now you've made me curious about Stardust. :D I've googled the trailer, and it does look like fun. Not sure I'll come round to looking for the dvd, though ( ... )
