Best Scanner for Art

Scanning can be a real challenge for an artist. Colours rarely are rendered the way they look in the originals, and watercolour is particularly difficult to scan properly. Even after adjusting colours in Photoshop they hardly ever match the RL paintings ( Read more... )

Thanks for the info! I've been looking for a new scanner too - not because mine was bad - it was very good actually, and still works great - but it doesn't have a driver for Windows 7, so it won't work with my new computer. I've hated to buy a new one when my old one works perfectly, but if I can't use it, it isn't doing me any good. :P I'll check into the one you suggested! <333

You're very welcome! <333 Delighted to hear from you, btw! Hope you are well and happy with whatever you are doing.

So annoying that many companies just don't offer drivers for older devices. :(( They force you to buy new things even if you don't want them.

Hope you'll find the scanner that is best for you. I wasn't sure whether to opt for a Canon Canoscan 9000 or the Epson V600 Photo. I finally went for the Epson and haven't regretted it for a moment.

The difference is truly remarkable. I have no excuse for buying a new scanner, but if mine ever breaks down, I will know which one to get!

It is, indeed! :D I never knew scanners could be that good with watercolours, it was such a lovely surprise.
Hehe, I happily did have an excuse. ;)
Hopefully that model will still be around whenever your scanner decides to give up. *grins*

Thanks so much for the rec. I also have a barely used scanner with no Windows 7 drivers. I've kept two Windows XP systems around just for the scanner, but they're so slow!

Aw, first of all, sorry for the shamefully late reply. *blushes* The only excuse I have is, that I hardly ever dwell on LJ anymore and that I've been really busy in RL these past couple of weeks.
You're very welcome for the rec. I figured it would be useful for artsy people because there aren't many useful reviews written by artists when it comes to scanners.
It's a shame how companies just don't bother creating proper drivers for more than a few systems. Apparently all they want is to make cash without regard for environement or costs for consumers.
