Quick disclaimer: I am not without compassion, and I understand that people need help. I get that, really. I am asking a question, with only a small value judgment attached.
Every time Mother Earth gets cranky and a portion of the Human population and/or its infrastructure gets damaged, the people of the US mobilize relief efforts, and donation drives, and that is laudable. When the same thing happens in the US, do other countries jump up to get money sent to help? It's a real question. I don't know the answer, and I would like to. I believe that the US leads the world in expenditures of time, resources, and personnel in relief efforts around the world. How much of those expenditures do other nations reciprocate?
I don't think I am a bad person for wondering about this, truly.
