Was curious as I know alot of you have cats awhhh! For now, Bri is the only pet around here hahaha. I miss my dogs so much and hate that they both passed on within a yrs time. It happens but as you know now in an apt especially this one it is not the best for a dog round here especially as I am a fan of *BIG* dogs. Bring on the Newfies hehe ( Read more... )

A cat works well in an apartment. Get one that is fixed and claws in front gone. Pet smart has an adoption weekend most weekends. Or see id there is a "Pet Pals" shelter or SPCA shelter in your area or just call the local pound.
I am with yu girlfriend, snakes creep me out, and I ain't a wimp. I have always wonder about the people that are drawn to them.
p.s. do not buy the cheap kitty litter. it only will piss you and the cat off LOL

I am thinking hard. I may do the fish though as it would be easier. Cats are cute though and if I do decide on one I would certainly adopt that's where I go the other baby from (dog) and the other was a gift and a stray.

Cats are always a good choice ;)

But seriously, for an apartment, I wouldn't recommend a dog. Dogs need room to run around... they're just not as happy in an apartment where they're stuck.

Snakes, while cute, tend to not be overly snuggly, or display much personality. Rodents, while cute, tend to smell.

Fish are ok, and believe it or not have personalities, but most people (including pet stores) don't know how to take care of fish, and end up putting fish in highly inappropriate containers (i.e. too small, or no pump/filter, etc) and the fish will eventually die. I wouldn't recommend getting a fish unless you want to really research it. It breaks my heart when people get fish and keep them in conditions that were they another pet, the human society would be after them!

Even though I'm not a cat lover (except Mickey, I love her to death) I gotta pipe in that cats would be good apartment pets, if (like others have said) you have them declawed and fixed. A small dog might be okay, too. Julie lives in a fairly small house and her dogs seem pretty content being inside a lot, but they're both very small.

Eh. Mickey doesn't care if anyone loves her or not. She ignores me most of the time, except when I'm trying to give her hugs... then she runs away. Hee hee hee! I can't decide if I love her because I like the challenge of trying to get her to love me back or if I love her because she has such a snobbish attitude.

Oh girl, you know me!

We've had, let's see...

Phoebe, Cassie, Schnapps, and Mittens - All Daschunds
A gazillion minnow and a few hermit crabs, a nasty cockatiel named "Casey".
Ferris the Ferret,
Sam the evil persion cat,
Chaplin - my gorgeous calico, who now lives with Bridget,
Maggie, Sparrow, Paisley, 4 peking ducks, 17 roosters who served as packing material for said ducks, two turtles (Simon and Seymour), two chinchillas (Piipin and Frodo), three beta fish (Rainbow, Ruby, and Claire), of which, Claire is still currently living, and Snow the bird! Phew. And I am sure I missed some in there... Oh and a parakeet named Sunshine that a co worker gave me after her mothe rpassed away. The co-worker's, not the bird's.

Oh gosh, on some days I would hand her over in a heartbeat but she's such a great watchdog and so gentle with the girls that I just couldn't. She could, however, vacation your way! :)
