Thanks! I'd never used a DSLR before! I took a little internet crash course on it's uses and composition before I left and I had plenty of time to learn how it works.

Yeah, actually almost all my nights were in ryokan (tatami mats, futons, etc.) even though the one in Tokyo was a hostel/ryokan. But I found the ones that were ryokan in style, but had modern amenities. This one in Kyoto had only been open a couple months:
There is a "Best Of" on Facebook! I took a lot more for myself, but I also know that people have low attention spans on the internet, so I whiddled it down to a Readers Digest version.

They have capsules but also private rooms. I had the private room with the futuristic shower and a butt-spraying toilet, it was awesome.
