if you walk across town from the train station & the duomo you've got a number of options that aren't immediately obvious to a tourist. there's a sizeable north (& west) african constituency in florence & it's not difficult to find a cafe that serves a decent falafel or tagine. occasionally french is spoken more than italian, but to find a senegalese dish is worth surmounting the language barrier.
