Jack is a wonderful dog. He's a little jack russell terrier, whom, after knowing him for most of his life, I've been able to discover, loves his father very much (his human father, my father). I agree with you completely, but my first solution would be for Jack to sleep with his people. Is that out of the question? Unless Jack likes to chew, you may want to stuff a hot water bottle inside father's shirt, especially in fall/winter when he'd appreciate the warmth. Good luck.
