Anthrocon 2011 Report, cont'd: Sunday, June 26, Part 1 of 2

Jul 18, 2011 22:02

Sunday morning had arrived, and I found the strength to start another day, the last day, of this fantastic convention. It wasn't too hard, actually, as I had plenty of motivation. Went down to my first panel of the day, which was Light Effects and Electronics in Fursuit Construction, at 10:30am.

A controller used for fursuit lighting effects

I found that panel very useful and interesting. Though I have not actively worked with it for several years, I am an electronics technician, and understand a lot about this stuff. These state of the art devices were new to me, so it was educational, but I understood enough about electronics and current calculations to follow right along. Subjects covered were LEDs, EL wire (EL=electroluminescent), and controller circuits. I think the class was well organized, flowed, and I left with some knowledge I can apply in the future on my own fursuit. Good panel.

After this let out at 11:30, I went over to the Equine Anatomy panel next door, already in progress. I have an interest in horses, and they are beautiful animals, so I thought this might be useful. It was okay, but I wanted to get started on lunch, so I only stayed for 20 minutes, heading out at 11:50am.

Perfect timing, actually. As I was walking out the door, a pretty pink fursuiter named Tiffany came walking by, and I almost literally dropped everything and immediately asked if I could take several pictures. She obliged, and gave me three lovely poses, which I enjoyed taking. Here is one of them:

Tiffany. This babe is another who made it onto my favorites list this year.

As I was heading out to Fernando's, this good-looking fox by the name of Fay V caught my attention, so I got a pic. She also got the attention of a family crossing the street, so I saw her posing for pictures with a young child as I continued on my way. Got an Anthrocon sub special, then saw that the fox had come to Fernando's too! And, also saw Kage dining there.

Upon returning from lunch, caught a pic of this character in the lobby, but did not catch the name. Plenty of attitude in this one (just look at the facial expression)!

Caught Cadence again in the lobby. Beautiful!

Next on my agenda was the Lion Safari at 1:00pm, hosted by my friend Luka Lioness. I was expecting almost all of the attendees to be in fursuit, but this turned out not to be the case. In fact, only two or three showed up in fursuit. Even Lunara did not wear hers. I was hoping that Taru was going to show up, but I never saw her again for the rest of the con. Luka did a good job running the panel and bringing everyone together. We all introduced ourselves, although my introduction was a bit lame- I only said my name and that I was an African lion, and that I chose a lion because I liked them. Geez... I could have mentioned my planned comic/story, and what I like to do in the fandom, etc. I was really nervous talking to the group and I guess I was just glad to get it over with... I regret not sharing more. I really liked Abrahm lion's introduction- he mentioned a number of different things, and it was interesting. Laura lioness was there and also had a good introduction with a neat little story to tell about herself. I like how she always wears her fursuit partial everywhere at the con. :) I also got to meet Samoht, an artist who I have seen on FA. Luka brought along two lion meat toys she had made for the panel; the idea was, I think, for a room full of fursuiter lions to play with the toys. Almost no lion fursuits were there, and no playing occured, so she passed them around, and I ended up with one of them as a souvenir.

The Lion Safari meet actually ran over its alotted time slot, which was only a half hour. It was now 2pm, so I headed over to the DLCC to visit the dealers' room one last time, and to see some of the Fursuit Games. Unfortunately, I had missed the Fursuit Dance Competition; just could not fit it into my schedule.

Marie, an unusual cute fursuiter I spotted at the con this year. She has a nice tail, too, as you can see. :)

Very cute, cozy pose in the Artists' Alley. The one on the right is Artie.

Provo Cheesebeagle and very cute friend (did not catch her name) in the Fursuit Games.

Dale, the saxophone-playing husky.

Drama Llama and Kage having an encounter just before Closing Ceremonies.

Closing Ceremonies finally came at 5:30pm, and was fairly routine, reporting on new things that had worked this year, number of attendees registered, number of fursuiters in the parade, next year's theme, etc. The girl that had sung Ave Maria in the Masquerade was asked to perform some kind of vocal trio with two others, and it sounded great. Finally, things ended, and Anthrocon 2011 was officially over. Now, all that remained was the "unofficial" dead dog festivities for Sunday night, yet to come.

Dogbomb by the escalators in the Westin. Good looking dog!.

I had hoped to finish my AC11 reports with this post, but there is just too much more to share. I still have all the photos from Sunday night to go through. So, there will be one more report to finish things up, with a lot of pictures.

To be continued with Sunday, June 26, part 2 of 2...
