In celebration of Harry Potter

So last night, I started my first re-read of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Seriously, my first re-read since the book was published in July of 2007. There are so many details I have forgotten. It's like I am reading a brand new JK Rowling book. Yes, I remember some of the bigger moments, especially with help of the movie that I've seen ( Read more... )

Yay for your long weekend!

I've been meaning to re-read Harry Potter forever and I think you just inspired me to do so! :) I checked my HP books, which are the regular children's edition by Bloomsbury that was published in Canada (I'm 99% certain it's identical to the British version) and there is in fact no sketches at the beginning of each chapter.

I LOVED Easy A! It has some of the best witty/snarky dialogue I've heard in a movie for a long time.

Thank you for checking that!! I'm 99% sure it's identical to the British editions also so great way to check. Smart! Thank you for looking.

Someday what I really need to do is a re-read of books 1-7 but I don't have time right now. And I really wanted a refresher of 7 before the last, LAST movie is out.

I'm going to have to buy Easy A I think. It's one I can see myself rewatching. I hope it shows up on the $8 shelf of Target for me soon, lol.

No problem!

Yeah me too. I think for now though I'm only going to read HP and the Deathly Hallows because of time constraints like you. Plus I also want to have all the details fresh for when I see the second part of the last movie.

Me too! I'm hoping to get it in the already viewed section at Blockbuster or something since we don't have Target here (although looks like in 2/3 year we might have some!). Or maybe it will be in the 2 for 20$ at HMV... Hmm...

Aw, that sounds absolutely fantastic. So glad you are enjoying your re-read and getting to relax a little. :) By the way, my 1-6 books don't have any sketches. (They were published in Canada) Only my seventh book, which was an American version, had sketches. I want to buy the last one again (Canadian version) just so I have a full set but anyway.

Easy A was adorable, I agree!

Heh, I've read DH four times now! (Or is it five? No, I'm pretty sure it's four.) And you're so right about what it feels like to reread them -- every time I do I fall in love all over again.

This is what I LOVE about the HP books as a whole. I always feel like I'm re-discovering little details or pieces of dialogue that I'd forgotten whenever I re-read any of the books.

Someday I'd love to do a re-read of all 7 books back-to-back. But my reading schedule is so random, I have no idea when I'll ever be able to pull that off, lol.
