Hi there, clicked over from 13th colony, where I was spoiling myself to make up for the fact that the hotel I am currently staying in lacks sci-fi channel. While for that reason I don't have any comments about your episode discussion, I want to thank you for pointing out about the fact that this shows constantly forced the watcher to switch loyalties, which, personally, has resulted in a whole other level of engagement in the show. I try to explain to others why I like it so much, and while it has great plots, beautiful special effects, wonderful characters, and scary cylons, it is the fact that my loyalties are challenged week to week that adds to my excitement about the show.
Sorry for going off on a little detail. Really great post.
Hee, thanks! I understand all too well the pain of not being able to watch- I just graduated from boarding school, and I had to literally wrestle the boys in my dorm away from the TV to catch BSG on Friday nights. And if there was a Red Sox game or something on, blood was often spilled. XD
Yeah, I really only pinned that down tonight, but that's what makes it so much more than a TV show for me. As someone else mentioned, the characters just constantly surprise you- you'll get insane plot twists on any TV show, but BSG is all about the choices multi-dimensional, unpredictable people make, and that's a joy to be a part of. Plus, despite the massive amount of hotness, Lee Adama is one of the most original lead characters I've ever seen on any show, and that's quite something for sci-fi.

I also think you, like everyone else, are too hard on Zarek, I like him, but he is dodgy. Not as bad as people think though.
