on "imaginary!"six

spoilers up until "Exodus, Pt. 2" under the cut.

thanks to fahrbotdrusilla for reminding me of this, in this post.

I don't think "imaginary!"six is imaginary at all. I can see the writers making her so, but there'd be a lot of explaining to do... too much, I think, for them to just go for the insanity defense.

1) head!six has known things that baltar would have no way of knowing, subconsciously or otherwise; the only example I can remember off the top of my head is that she knew about boomer's baby, but I can go poke around for others if necessary.

2) what reason on earth would the caprica six in the museum have to want to kick kara's ass if she wasn't in some way connected to/aware of the events on galactica (and aware of baltar's sex life? even if there was a cylon agent reporting back to her somehow, I doubt they could have picked that up.) she could have killed her, interrogated her, or captured her, but instead she went for a beat-down.

3) baltar and pre-apocalypse!six didn't seem to have a particularly deep relationship. everything that developed between them developed between him and head!six. how could that relationship have transferred so seamlessly if the two sixes weren't linked?

all that said, the gap between caprica!six and head!six in this episode was really quite strange. I hope we'll see more of a head!six and some kind of plausible explanation; I really can't think of any plausible explanation, except that I misinterpreted the disconnect in that scene (though I'm almost positive it was intentional) and the two sixes are connected. this brings up a lot of interesting questions about "downloading," however.

do the cylon models just start off psychologically identical, and then develop with different personalities based on experiences (or at random?) boomer obviously differs at the very least as a result of her experience, but caprica six's case is a little less clear, especially if she and head!six are completely disparate. her love for gaius seems to be what's changed her and brought her about to a general compassion for humanity. does that trickle through the datastream to the other sixes? are they more easily convinced by each other than the other cylons? or is it merely a matter of simultaneous "evolution", so to speak?

ideas?

six, bsg
