Quest for Immortality

Mar 03, 2010 23:36

Went to the Quest for Immortality exhibit at the National History Museum today. Took pictures, but unfortunately not of the tags beside the artefacts so I don't know who is who - be prepared for some vague captions.

Salmah's fingers doing a bunny sign at a 3000 year old dead guy. Children have no respect for the dead these days.

Jesus fuck these canopic jars are BEAUTIFUL. I want. So bad.

Some dead guy's shabti.

itty bitty dinnerware and a tiny table. The brown stain on it is from bread rotting.

Two young, deceased ladies. Didn't get their names, didn't buy them a drink.

Inside of someone's sarcophagus.

Steles belonging to, um... people.

Statues of Herakh and King Horemheb.

My favourite goddess for obvious reasons, Sekhmet.

A phone I found in the gift shop.

Fun fact: According to Tiscali.co.uk, the most famous person of all time is Michael Jackson; the runner up was Jesus.
