You can't explain to a rep that you know the problem.. it's hard, but you have to realize that in their mind you're just another idiot over-the-hill grandparent that doesn't know what the hell is going on. That's generally why I let the rep do their thing until they let the "higher level" folks fix the problem.
Doesn't mean the majority aren't complete tards, example being your rep. What provider do you have? Mine actually try to fix the problem with a set procedure, then if that doesn't do it, they hand you off to someone that is "educated." :P
i usually get those, but i didn't even give her the chance to enact the checklist... i told her "hey, i know the problem, check your end, then send a repairman..." pretty much
