At least it is running smoothly again...

I tried to drive my car into Garland Auto on Monday (note that the keyword there is tried), but the results were less than favorable. It is one of the few auto shops around here that I trust and it is only about 15 miles away from my house (It would have been a much shorter distance if I used the I-90, but I sure as hell didn’t trust my car on the ( Read more... )

It's horrible to grow dependent on power steering, and then have it taken away from you...especially since your steering wheel pretty much locks up with very little leeway.
Heh, thanks though. I'm happy that my car is working again as well.

Wow, I never imagined having a car could be such trouble!

Well really it's not that much trouble. My car just happens to be quite the pain and quite the money pit. I got it used and it is over 12 years old, so I guess it is acting appropriately for it's age and whatnot. Of course there are cars that are much older than mine that are running to be bear perfection, but my car's former owner didn't take car of it that well.

I hear that. My car, sadly, is still in California while I'm here in SC. It's 33 years old and runs rather well. I say rather, because it was quite the money pit, like yours. The former owner did not treat that poor car well. And my mother is an accident on wheels it seems. She's torn out and had to replace my muffler 3 times because she insists on delivering phone books with it, though it can't handle that much load. It's also been through 2 alternators, myriad belts and gas lines (it's of German make so there's about 9000 to begin with), a speedometer, and other things because my mother doesn't think, she just drives.
I know she means well, but still....

I feel for you and I sympathize greatly.

BTW, if you're wondering, my car is a 1971 VW Squareback.

Your car definitely has more age on it than mine (1992 Dodge Dynasty). I remember the first repair I had to pay for on mine was for a new transmission. Haha, I should have known the car would be nothing but trouble then. The cost to replace the transmission almost matched that of the car itself, it was unbelievable. Ever since then I've had to have something checked, repaired, or replaced on it every four to six months. Talk about being a pain, haha!

I always knew it was a piece! Hell mine is too, but I hope I can sell bullet when I go back home. I sure will miss her though.. me and bullet had some good races!!! Ahh.. good times... Well I'm happy your car is running better, hopefully after a few more fixes it'll run like almost-new! ;)

Haha, I don't think my car will ever run like almost-new, unless I buy an almost-new car.
