Decision Time

Well, in truth, there really was much of a decision to make in the first place. I could have chosen to stay where I was at, with no chance of going anywhere with that job, or taken a risk and left it all behind for a job where I could actually get my foot in the door in a big industry ( Read more... )

Hey, that's cool, it sounds like it'll be good for you. I gotta start focusing on getting a job here too...not fun. At least most of the competition is going home for the summer :)

Thanks. It certainly seems to be the right move, though that doesn't seem to change the fact that I'm nervous as hell about the switch. That's natural though, I guess.

Most of your competition leaves?! Preposterous! Mine always seems to be here, but I guess I had them beat this time around. I wish you luck in your search, as I know how frustrating it can become.

Ah, okay. I can see how that would work out nicely from time to time.

Is there any kind of job in particular that you are looking for? Besides one that pays that is, heh.

Yeah, I was pretty lucky to have spotted the ad in the newspaper when I did. In truth, I didn''t think I had a chance at it, but it couldn't hurt to try. Little did I know that I would actually land the job.

I imagine I'll hate the job for the first week or so, but after that I'll get used to it.

I thought virgin mobile was going pretty well, guess I missed a couple of posts about it. What certain aspects aren't so great about it?

its alright, laid back in certain aspects.

but is is a call center, theres no selling involved, but customer service is never a fun job, especially over the phone.

theyre really strict on attendence.
ive missed 5.5 days and i cant miss again til november, even though ive had doctor's notes for every miss.
ive never worked somewhere that doesnt excuse an absence with a doctors note!
its just frustrating to think if i got really sick they wouldnt care and would fire me.

Wow, I can see what you mean now. I imagine I'll have to grow accustomed to a more strict rule policy at the hospital that I'm used to at Spokane Airways.

That was one thing I really liked about that job, they were very lax about almost everything. You can have at least 10 no call no shows before they fire you, and if you call and made up some simple excise as to why you will not show up or be late then they have no problem with it at all (Unless you call at least 10 times and don't show up I imagine).

I remember when I used to work for Dakota Direct (now it's called West I think) and would take calls to renew or open up a Sears credit card account or something like that. People usually just called up to bitch us out and everything though.

I can definitely see where that would be frustrating.
