An ipod and a rechargable lithium ion dock are a great pair, you'll wonder how you lived without it. Carry it around the house, in the yard, traveling ... it's the new jambox that sounds better and has 20 days of music on board.

There are very few things that aren't worth getting for free, IMHO! ;-> Heck, if you can't find a use for it, you can always "re-gift" it to someone who'll appreciate it, right? I mean...the price is right! :D

Almost four months too late to affect this decision, I would point out that the Touch is not just a media player, it's a wireless-enabled hand-held computer, i.e., an iPhone without the phone part. If they were indestructible we would get them for the kids. BTW, what did you decide? I'm writing this using my Xmas present, a new MacMini with Intel Core Duo, damn, it makes my old mini look slow!
