As I've been working on the game's design, I've found a few things about the game summary that displease me. So I'm changing this and that. ( Read more... )
I like these changes, especially the discard rule. I well remember Magic games where by the end my hand was mostly useless cards just sitting there. I'm sure you can come up with plenty of action cards, though, especially now that you have cards associated with creatures. Since this is all automated by the computer, it would be easy to have certain cards that are associated only with creatures and wouldn't necessarily show up in the player's hand. Or would that make things needlessly complicated?
Ah, good idea! It's certainly plausible for cards to be usable only by heroes, or only by non-hero creatures.
Could even go crazy and have different species of creatures, with certain cards usable by (and therefore drawable by) only certain species. :)
One other thing I'm thinking about adding amounts to innate special actions. For instance, a Unicorn creature might have an innate special action: burn two APs and any target creature becomes Defenseless for two turns. These things--"special abilities"?--are effectively as if that creature always has the particular special action card in its deck to be used.
Heroes might have a specialty too--an innate special action that never deserts them--with different heroes having different specialties. Sound worthwhile?
