...is a term that my friend coined to describe people who decide to harass you and your girlfriend while you're going along minding your own business while having the nerve to do something outrageous like, I don't know, hold hands or maybe kiss. Can take the form of perviness, straight-up aggressive homophobia, or just weird

People on my side of the pond aren't terribly creative so A and I have only ever gotten a persistent "Eww!" from a girl our age and one from a young boy. Other than that a friend-of-a-friend once ran up to tell us we were the cutest couple she knows. Very rarely will anyone say anything to us directly.
On the other hand, we're 20-somethings and neither of us looks very butch, even with short hair, so we might largely look like overly affectionate friends. Even when people have seen us kiss they tend to hesitate to assume we're a couple.

but I mean, on a given day out in London we pass hundreds of people, and all but a few of them leave us alone entirely, but that's all you need to get really fucking tiresome. And from a safety perspective, all you need is one person.

Also I'll be moving to England soon so I've been trying to gauge how safe I'll be there, not that it matters much, if A isn't with me I'm just a girl with a book.

I think London's generally an awesome place to be queer... when I talk about this stuff with my lesbian friends, some report the same sorts of things and some don't, but for some reason it does seem like the two of us attract a lot of attention. We're both in our early 30s... slightly alternative-looking but not hugely. dunno.
I haven't ever actually had any overt threats against my physical safety yet but I'm wary.

I've never had anything like it, but probably due to a couple of factors:
One, I'm older and sort of give off a "don't mess w/ me!" vibe.
two, I'm in the Western US and the overall acceptance of gays is much better here than in some other areas of the country.
The most I can remember was a mother who "clutched" her child close to her as me and a gf passed by holding hands. Cracked me up. We were both MOMS! and certainly not the type of women that cause people to fear for their children. Sigh...
