Dude, this is old. January 2008. Wow. That's... a lot of improvement over the past three years. Holy shit.
I think Brainy followed Helga outside because she's having one of her 'moments'. He's the only one who is allowed to see her Creecher side, because she's never cared what he thought of her. And he's the only one who would never flinch at the sight of her - even Phoebe isn't fully comfortable around Helga anymore.
I don't really love Brainy, but I tend to give him really interesting roles in my fics.
I think the bodies on the upper part of the drawing were outfit designs for Darkverse!Lila (left) and Phoebe (middle). Then we've got some Creecher design attempts and a scrapped design of Helga's Creecher side. The bottom left is Lila.
Formal wear! Because I have a thing for big fancy parties in stories? I just like it when characters have a chance to dress up.
Hairstyles for the Darkverse! gals. Phoebe is not allowed to have that horrible super short haircut. NO.
Brainy is totally going to die for Helga. Doi. There's just really no other option.

I'm not sure if Lila and Rhonda hang out much in the Darkverse, but I definitely see them being friends throughout things. Maybe not like... super close, but there's still a sense of camaraderie between them, I'd say. Even though Rhonda does a lot of things that Lila doesn't quite approve of.
Wolfgang hitting on Helga. I touched on this when I first posted this picture, but Wolfgang reacts very differently to Helga and Rhonda. He purposefully does things to piss Helga off, but he has a tendency to be gentler with Rhon. He's antagonistic towards Helga because he finds it funny when she gets angry, but he doesn't particularly like it when Rhonda gets mad. I think it's because Helga's anger runs kind of hot and Rhonda's anger tends to be colder? Not that Helga can't do cold anger, but she's much better at being explosive than... aloof?
I guess maybe Helga has some sort of dark Creecher powers. WHO EVEN KNOWS ANYMORE.
Digital painting is stupid.
They're 14 and completely drunk. Bob believes the best reward for not dying is a lot of alcohol. These kids grow up incredibly maladjusted BTW.
Coming home after their first mission. The only team aside from Helga's to make it back without a single casualty. :(
I love this one. Rhonda telling her team a ghost story or something of the sort. Or maybe just talking about something funny/embarrassing.
I always figured that this is something that happens when Big Bob dies. Brainy has to hold Helga back because there's nothing she can do. BB probably sacrificed for her and the others. IDK, I like the idea that Bob is a shitty, irresponsible father, who doesn't know shit about childcare, but is ultimately willing to throw his life on the line for the people he cares about. He's an... all or nothing kind of guy.
Rhonda's crew raiding the school for food. I just wanted to draw them all in their Darkverse outfits.
Somewhat finalized designs for Helga and Lila. Also, Brainy kind of becomes Helga's body guard? Not that she really needs one, but he's like this big hulking shield. For some reason I always seem to imagine Brainy growing up and becoming really big and buff and strong, but still with a sort of dorky look about him? So there's this kind of dissonance between his body type and his attitude, which makes a lot of people uncomfortable around him.
Also, he sort of actually ends up being Helga's best friend. Even Phoebe is sometimes scared of the person Helga becomes, but Brainy doesn't flinch at the sight of her and she's never felt the need to impress him anyway. She can be a little bit crazy and a little bit animalistic in front of him. He won't say a word.
After Harold is dead. Rhonda's gang getting ready to ambush a pack of Creechers.
So there will probably be a dance at some point and obviously it will be ruined and dangerous and Helga will be killing shit in a hot dress. THIS IS WHO I AM AND I HAVE NO REGRETS. At the right is some potential Rhonda design stuff. Her hair is too long here though.
Some badass Helgas. Her outfit is a bit off here because I didn't have a ref for it. Her official outfit is the green one a few pictures up.
Rhonda and Nadine before they manage to stumble their way to safety. It's kind of a miracle that they survive long enough for Big Bob and his mish mash group of soldiers to find them. Also, it ends up not really mattering since Nadine is lost to the Creechers a few years later anyway. :D D:
Creecher designs. Trying to keep elements of their original designs involved in their Creecher forms. Harold's the only one that I really like. He's actually sort of oozy and can slide under cracks and reform himself. His form is liquid which makes him really hard to destroy.
Just more of Lila's design. I really like it even if she looks sort of ridiculous and mismatched.
I imagine that some big monster pops up in the middle of an argument between these two.
Let's renamed the Darkverse to: "EVERYONE WANTS TO BANG HELGA!" It'll be hilarious and sitcom-styled.

When the Creechers arrive - so do the light crystals. The light crystals can be manipulated into any form the user can imagine. Some people are really good at them, but not a lot. Helga can't even TOUCH them.

a/n: Yes, you've probably seen most, if not all, of these images before. I just really wanted to attempt to sort of combine all my Darkverse art into one place (I'm doing the same thing with a lot of Trying art too). I want to be able to make it easy to get a general overview of the story through the artwork. Lots of concept stuff in here.
I'll try and keep it updated. As far as I can tell, this is all the Darkverse stuff I've posted online.
