We've known this day was coming for a long time but it still caught me off guard. Feeling a little sappy all of a sudden. I've been pretty busy with work and because of that haven't been as involved with fandom as much as I once was, so I guess I haven't processed the end yet, fully. This show and the friendships I made here came at a time when I really, really needed it. It's been an honor to be your host here every week!
I can't quite grasp that today is the day. Last night, though, missnumbat reminded me that I don't own the dvds so I have a ton of special features to look forward to. So that makes me feel a little better.
Oh my gosh I can't believe you don't own the DVD's, there is so many great deleted scenes :) I'm still looking forward to the season 6 dvd as is hasn't been release here yet. Season 5 has some of my favourite ben/leslie deleted scenes.
In other news, I had a great time hanging out with princess_george over the weekend! Our little Parkscon West was a balmy 70 degrees at the beach and we talked shit about ALL of you.

I can't believe the end has arrived. I feel like we've had so little time to process this with the final season being so rushed.
I became involved in this community during a period of my life when I was unemployed and pretty bored and listless. This community really helped me out at a time in my life when I needed it. I'm so glad I got to meet so many of you in person. You were all so welcoming when I came to visit, letting me into your homes and showing me around your cities. Whilst it's a shame I couldn't make it to ParksCon, I'm so glad I get to experience the finale with Courtknees1 who has so generously taken me into her home for the occasion.
My tv broke this weekend. The week that I have an interstate guest who has flown here specifically to watch a tv show. It made a popping noise and turned off, never to be turned back on. So that's pretty shitty luck. We've got a computer monitor hooked up as a screen instead, which is less than ideal but at least we don't have to watch on my tiny laptop. missnumbat has generously not thrown anything at me for allowing this catastrophe to happen.
I'm so glad we have 3 tv's in our house and my housemate who owns the tv in our lounge room bought a newer bigger one when hers started to break down over christmas. At least it didn't break while you were watching!
It really hasn't sunk in that with the show ending, our weekly chat threads (at least those that are tied to new episodes) are also coming to an end. This community came along at a time when I really needed it, as a different Internet community I've been part of for a long time (10 years, almost exactly now) was slowing down and fracturing. This filled that void, and also introduced me to people who share my interests. Nobody in my real life really shares my passion for TV the way all of you do. I don't know that I would have "met" a lot of you outside of this place, but I'm so glad I did because Parks people truly are the best people.
In honor of the final Parks episode, I'm posting a final Swanson Report (but I guess it's really a Knope Report). Dinner tonight will be savory waffles with rosemary, Kerrygold cheddar, and ham. Side dish is a Traeger-iffic wilted spinach topped with hollandaise.
