Been supremely lazy today. First day off in 9 days - not a record for me - but I am luxuriating in it. Going to see Inside Out later. I tried a purple cat eye and a scene from Clueless for dubsmash.
It has been a weird week, but I am looking forward to the weekend. BOE and I both have tomorrow off, and I have two goals: get him to go to the pool, and make him go see The Overnight with me (especially as Dan Savage just had Jason Schwartzman on his podcast and said that the film is really smart about sex. I'm in!).
Saturday will be spent at my parents' house, and Sunday my RL BFF Donna is making me go see Magic Mike 2 with her. We are doing what we did three years ago: going with my mom, and then everyone's spouses go see Ted instead. And apparently they wanted to release MM2 and Ted 2 at the same time, so that's going to be dumb, but whatever. I indulge Donna's terrible taste in movies.
Thank you! I was like "wtf how is it playing here and not in California" but then remembered that you live in a weird place in California. Sending you love as you suffer through this time of no Overnight.
Hiiiiiiii. It has been forever since I have posted here. I've missed all of you! (Even though I "see" most of you on Tumblr. You know what I mean. I miss these weekly chats.)
Busy busy. Kids are out of school for the summer. We have been in and out of town: camping with my sister (sort of--they started in an RV park and we camped in a site that was literally on the side of a road in the mountains), two trips to the Bay Area, and Disneyland. I turned 36 and my son turned 12. I've been doing a lot of writing and selling of that writing. Nothing big but it's big stuff for me.
I'm super bummed that The Overnight is supposed to be in wide release this weekend and it isn't coming to my city, but it's going to be in other similar cities (Detroit, Cleveland) and also a bunch of really tiny places. (Salinas? Really?)
KATE! How was camping with your sister? Was she less horrible than usual? And happy belated birthday!
I am so happy every time I see you post something new of yours that has been published. I don't know if I've told you this enough, but your writing is really great.
I was hoping to work tomorrow because I wanted to bank my holiday hours, but there's nothing for me to edit so I'm home. I guess I'll go to the gym because I really need to exercise. I also need to buy a new Kindle, because mine gave up the ghost. It's a bummer because I got that as a gift from one of my best friends when I was going through chemo, and it was tremendously useful when I was sitting for hours getting treatment. I'll miss you Kindle, and your keyboard most of all.
Also the Padres still suck and the Angels are just embarrassing and one of the Chargers' stars got suspended 4 games for PEDs and no one wants to sign with the Lakers.
About an hour ago I bought a new Kindle on Amazon. Just the basic 6" model, but I splurged the extra $20 because I want the regular screen saver and not ads. I also bought a cover. Should come middle of next week.
I do have actual physical books to read in the meantime.
Finally find some wifi, I'm headed to San Fransisco for July 4th weekend and I have my American flag scarfe ready, don't know what to expect but it's going to be fun

Bummer about your Kindle. Do you know what kind you want to replace it with?
