So.... I have had little reason to update tis thing lately. None of my old lj friends comment anymore, and if they are posting, they aren't doing so publicly where I can read them so..... well that's part of the reason I haven't updated ( Read more... )

I'm in a bad mood, too.
And I feel like writing about it will only make it worse.
*Sigh*

My high school had a similar problem with being a very highly desired place to go. And most of the people who applied had dreamed about going for a long time. When faced with overcrowding, students were told "You have a choice, we can cram you into a small room and spread you out as people leave, or you could not come at all."

The problem at GT is 1) You can't tell students to deal with it or leave in so many words. and 2) Admissions knows how many people will be coming ahead of time. But clearly housing and the academic departments do not. You'd have figured that the math department (who complained loudly last year) would have been smart enough to plot a trend line and plan ahead, but they didn't. So the final problem? The institute isn't communicating the future needs to the various organizations and the institute isn't planning far enough into the future. Neither of which is admissions' fault. But out of pure curiosity, how early does admissions find out how many students will need to be accepted for the next year?

I heard or read somewhere that GT fresham were protesting bc of forced triples... Let it be known that GT is NOT the only school that is happening at; the class of '06 (ppl born in '87 & 88) was the largest EVERRR!
