what's in a name?
i cunt bloody stand the inflexibility of the administrative offices in this cuntry... they really should stop hiring menopausal and xenophobic bitches
so when i was born, my parents decided to have my name in this order: "leslie lee meng cheng". this, according to the consulate in san francisco, is my official name, and it appears on my passport.
then when i applied to come here, i had to fit that into the first name, last name format. not knowing where to put my chinese name, i just left it off in my school applications, and decided that i would go by "leslie (=first name) lee(=last name)". this is also the name that appears on my immigration forms and my social security number.
but the embassy had other plans. they changed the word order in my official name so that it would fit their format, and so my visa says "meng cheng leslie (=first name) lee (=last name)"
for three years, i lived happily here going by "leslie lee" (ok not 'happily', but at least i never faced any name issues), and use the name in my visa only when i fly.
until one day, i realised that i was running out of kindness (and thus rides) to live on, and decided to apply for a driving license.
i went to the department of motor vehicles, and in the application, i had to fill in my name: first name, last name. i figured that since they were gonna look at my passport, i should follow the visa name? when the woman started staring at my passport name for a while, i figured that the different word order was giving her little brain processing difficulties, and kindly offered that perhaps she might want to look at the visa. the bloody bitch went "no. i might not want to look at the visa", turned, and gave me a sickening smile. i just shrugged it off. a bit later, she ended up doing that anyway, and saw that the name i used to apply matched the visa name. she then entered that name into the system, and declared "you are not on the social security system". so i told her that they have me as "leslie lee". she told me to go change my name with the social security office before coming to apply for a license. i tried to convince her that "leslie lee" is as legitimate a name as the visa name, and showed her my immigration papers, which are legal documents, and said that everywhere else in this cuntry, i go by "leslie lee". the bloody bitch replied "everywhere else in this cuntry is not the dmv".
so i went to the social security office, and then they said that since they follow the immigration forms, i would have to go change my name on the immigration forms with the school. i went back to school, and boy, this was the ONLY efficient office: i got my new form in 5 minutes?
