so i got up today and went and saw fahrenheit 9/11. yeah i went alone cuz no one else was up for the early (cheaper) showing, and i didn't want to wait around any longer. but making it to the theater was a little difficult. see, i devised this plan where i'd buy a coke from the corner store next to the theater, that way i wouldn't have to shell ( Read more... )

I agree with so much of what you said in your review. There's an article at Slate.com that everyone who's seen that movie should read, just to get some kind of balanced perspective. Moore leads the audience to draw conclusions that are so wrong and he himself presents such convulted points. The only absolute truths in his movie are universal truths -- war is bad, innocents die in war, some people inevitably profit from war. I'm not defending the right -- I have no doubt that there's corruption in the government -- but neither do I trust Michael Moore, despite what an entertaining film-maker he can be.

Anyone who trusts the Moore + Kerry + "the left" blindly is as sad as those who trust Bush + Rumsfeld + "the right" blindly.

ah yes, i actually read that article last night after i wrote this post. i've had the article (which is pretty good if anyone hasn't read it yet) bookmarked for some time now, but decided i would see the film before i read any opposing material, just to see what i could conclude from my own point of view. bet thank you megan, i appreciate the comment!
