Recipe! 40 cal giant ice slushie, 15 cal big bowl of thai broth. Go nuts.

Recipe post.>

15 calorie thai broth/soup.

1 leek (1 average weight, 83g, 90kj, 22 calories)
1.5 litres vegetable or chicken stock (depends on brand, You'll need 2 stock cubes, I use massel brand, 7.6 cal per cube)
20 grams fresh ginger, grated (16 calories)
Juice of 1 lemon (an entire lemon, average weight 99g, is 95kj, 23 calories)
Juice of 1 lime (an entire lime, average weight 49g, is 45kj, 11 calories)

These are the base ingredients. To this you can add whatever you want, keeping with the thai influence. If you eat meat you could add prawns, fish, skinless chicken breast etc. You will have to add in the calories yourself however. Optional, you can serve with pickled ginger, vermecelli, corriander or anything else you like. The calori amounts I have worked out are for the above ingredients only.

Slice leek in half length ways, then slice about 1.5cm thick. Saute in non stick saucepan (if you need to add oil etc, count in the calories), drop in ginger, and saute for 30 seconds or so. If you are adding chicken, add now.
Pour over the stock, lemon and lime juice, and any other optional vegetables. Simmer until flavors are well infused, (or until chicken is cooked)
Lemon and lime juice are both great detox's, great for the liver. Ginger has been used as a natural detox and antioxidant source for centuries. This is great if you really want a big bowl of broth, but dont want to blow the calorie count.
The entire base recipe is 87.2 calories. You would have about 250ml, one cup, for a good serve. Each serve is only 14.53 calories. And the best thing, if you like thai, it is reallllly yummy.

40 calorie big slushie -
1 kiwi fruit, 2 trays ice, water til you are happy with the consistency. Add some splenda or artificial sweetener if you like it sweet. Blend til smooth and drink. Makes a BIG filling drink, but the only calories is the fruit. You can do the same with any fruit but the calorie amount will change, you will have to research it for yourself. Why not a strawberry one, or a lemon one to cleanse the liver?

Calorie stats - Kiwifruit - raw. 1 average weight 78g, 160kj, 38 calories.
