Yesterday I saw the ugliest car on the road. It was a silver version of this. Why, Chevy? Why did you reinvent the El camino? It was ugly the first time.
Fairly decent icon will not erase the fact it's an ugly car, babe. Now you may have fond memories of the car, but let's not confuse that with the beauty of the car itself. I can probably agree that your memories are beautiful. But the lines are atrocious and the function is useless (much as I hate soccer moms, the minivan and SUVs are much better ratio of function and utility).
Also, old truck = awesome. New car/truck/thing = Volks Beetle and Ford pickup lovechild. Both parents drink heavily. Especially during pregnancy. Just sayin'.
According to your analysis, it sounds like a spork. And they're functional too. Riiiiiight.
If you want stuff-hauling capability, get a real truck. If you want people-hauling function, get a car.
Now, again, I do believe that special memories make a vehicle (in this case) appear stellar in retrospect. I'm not denying you've a fondness for yours. Just saying as a whole, there's two thumbs down for the El.
