Yuletide assignments are out
And I'm really excited about mine.
So before I go to refresh my knowledge of the canon, I'm posting my requests here for reference. I made four requests, all in fairly obscure book fandoms and all with specific character requests, so I'm deeply relieved that I didn't actually manage to break Yuletide. Reading this livejournal, you would think I disappeared each year between January and October, appearing only for Yuletide.
It's not quite true -- I have been around, and though I haven't always been reading friends lists regularly I usually have been present, though not always commenting.

Final Yuletide Post
The yuletide reveal happens at New Year, so I'm only 2 months late announcing my stories. For my assignment, I wrote Long Time Passing for delurker, in the world of Diana Wynne Jones's Dogsbody, Kathleen/Sirius, 14,000 words. I swear I didn't expect it to be above 3000. Yuletide stories
The yuletide stories are up and I'm still incoherent with delight over The Ice Song which was written for me in the fandom of Patricia A McKillip's Song for the Basilisk. So this began life as a "dear Yuletide author" letter, but it probably serves as least as well as a guide to the kinds of things I like in fiction (not just fan fiction) and I hope also as a list of reasons why the three book fandoms I made my requests in are absolutely awesome and need more love. Yuletide assignments are out. Strange to say, my first reaction was of relief ("I can do something with this"), followed by slowly dawning enthusiasm. I'm sure I could have written a story for the prompt I got in the first round of matching, but I like my real request so much better.
