French oral exam: 1, Matt: 0.
My teacher was really nice about it, though. I didn't think it would end well, since he has a tendancy to be kinda cocky (and... well, frenchy) in class. It was weird/awesome to have a teacher that realizes I have pretty much no time without me even having to tell him about all I have going on. I'm used to teachers working more against me than for me.
"I know you spend most of your time in the theatre."
"Yeah, but that's no excuse."
"Yes, but you're only human. I know you don't have hardly any time for the homework, and when you do, you're exhausted."
<---surprised!?
I think I am being watched. Or maybe he's just good at gaging his students. I dunno.
I think I'm gonna go over to the bookstore and buy one of those laminated foreign language reference things with all the basic words and conjugations on it. I remember it being expensive, though. Oh well. We only have four weeks left, but hopefully I won't fail.
Let's compare today with tomorrow, shall we?
Today: No class til 2, work from 3:30-5, rehearsal from 7-11.
Tomorrow: class 11-11:50, work 1-4, collision rehearsal 4-7, ballyhoo rehearsal 7-11. That's a 10 hour day +class. Know how much I'll make for it? $18.75 before tax. They don't call them starving actors because they don't have a job; it's because they don't get any time to eat.
I know some of you have schedules that are just as busy, if not more. I don't want to hear any comparisons or belittlements. Committee meetings do not require you to have 130 pages of very dissimilar material memorized and ready to repeat as if the words were yours alone. I'm not bitter, I'm just stressed.
