out of idle curiosity (I found your journal through this site) I'm just wondering why you'd say that? I am a Christian and I've seen the movie and I think it's scary as hell. It seems as though that crazy woman is trying to raise herself a big fat crop of Christian terrorists. I don't think that the idea of Christ's LOVE for humanity is ever touched upon, but there are multiple insinuations that the only way to bring the Gospel to the world anymore is by force. Ironic, I think, that she disparages the Muslims and then turns around and emulates them. Do you agree or do you think she's right?
If you tell me the latter you'd be the first but I'd love to hear your perspective regardless.
The reason why I think it's an important movie for everyone to see is I think it's everyone's personal responsibility to be somewhat familiar with the world in which we live. I thought the directors did a great job of taking what happened in the movie and associating it with "Big Picture" type stuff like politics and current events such as the war in Iraq and how this Evangelical movement effects everyone in America. They showed us in 2004 when they swayed the presidential election in a big way. All Americans need to realize (and the film sends this message to) that we live amongst these Christian-Right Fundamentalists and they're basically trying to take over our country.
i think it's a great film, but i also think that people need to understand that this is a SMALL sect of people and not some huge group. not to defend them because what they believe is such a bastardization of what christianity is.
