I always thought Hesse had a rather interesting concept of Siddhartha "Buddha" Gautama.

I haven't finished the book yet, so I can't really make any judgement, but I must say it's definitely caught my attention.

Unfortunately, he wrote from an angle of someone who actually didn't understand eastern religions very well...

But I will agree, the ideas in the book are very interesting and thought-provoking.
