::blinks:: Golly, yeah, I never figured you'd really dig the genre. Funny enough, Metalocalypse seems to be doing that-- turning people onto metal. And yes, "Face Fisted" is probably my favorite song off that CD as well... or at least a tie for first with "Hatredkopter."
I haven't heard the new Cannibal Corpse, truth be told.
Heartwork by Carcass is probably their best effort as far as very technical guitar work goes, it blows me away. But I am very, very fond of Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious and to a lesser extent, Symphonies of Sickness as well. I think both of those were recently remastered and re-released in light of Carcass having just got back together for a 2 leg reunion tour.
If you can handle the death-metal vox, I would recommend that you listen to Twilight of the Thunder God by Amon Amarth. I personally find the idea of "Viking metal" silly, but this album just blows me away. The lead singer's vocals/growls sound very much like Dethklok, but the musically, it's just mind-blowing. I've been listening to

Also, another album I positively adore-- Alien by Strapping Young Lad.
But that one might be a bit intense. If you want a sample, check out my myspace profile and listen to "Shine." That song is a very good sampling of what the album is like as a whole. There's also an Amon Amarth song on there as well.
