I was looking through my old stuff and came across some of those Choose Your Own Adventure books.  The ones that make kids feel really stupid by letting them make decisions for the main character, generally with very little relevant information to go on, and rarely any hint as to which choice will lead to a positive conclusion, and which will lead

yeah those books always screwed over my self esteem as a child. now I'm scared to make decisions. I should sue them for emotional trauma.

I still have memories of a racing CYOA... getting into a crash every other decision kept me from getting my license on time many years later.

Yeah. That's pretty much it.

I flipped though a few of them in the library back in elementary school. I never found any reason to check them out.
