OOC: Expanded Notes: Other Characters
Information on some other the characters in this AU, to give a feel for it.
I've got more notes than this and on more characters; these are just ones that have enough info I thought I might as well share at least some.
If a character's not here, then either the AU hasn't progressed far enough that they're around / involved, orrrr I just don't have much to note about them.
For werewolves, if there's no extra information about their appearance, just assume they look close enough to canon when human and that their fur color is close enough to their hair color.
Also, like I've said elsewhere, there are many more werewolves in this Order than there are Exorcists in canon. It's almost like its own city.
Werewolves Confirmed by the Order
Allen Walker
Strain: HL
Appearance: As a human, has a normal pair of arms, and his scar doesn't have a fancy pentagram. When changed, has white fur peppered with red at parts.
Other:
----- He's not cursed. He does have the unique ability to sniff out Revenants (which are basically like Akuma and at this point, at least, are unknown to him and the Order) but he hasn't really discovered this yet.
----- Was still abandoned by his parents; was still a circus brat; was still taken in by Mana. He accidentally killed Mana when his HL manifested and he went "wild".
----- Was taken in by Cross after that, although abandoned after being found by Finders.
----- Met the leader of the Lost Flock once, back when Mana was still alive; Adam came sniffing by because there was something odd about, well, his scent. They didn't interact beyond that, though.
Lenalee Lee
Strain: HL
Other:
----- Managed to avoid some of the deadlier or disfiguring experiments, and was mostly used as a baseline, being pressed to her limit again and again. (There are still endurance tests, but not so consistently brutal.)
"Bookman"
Strain: IL (unconfirmed)
Appearance: When changed, appears closer to a large wolf than otherwise, and has black and white patches of fur.
Other:
----- Bookman has basically the same skills, although he's not as proficient a fighter. (Still unusually good for someone outside of a war.) How he got them, no one knows; he never speaks of his life from before the Order.
----- Bookman is, of course, not his real name -- but he claimed to have given up his name when taken in by the Order years and years ago. "Bookman" was a nickname eventually given to him, after making it a habit of spending hours and hours in the library.
----- He makes use of the resources available to learn as much about what is going on both within and outside the Order as possible. He's very selective about who he shares any knowledge with.
Miranda Lotto
Strain: IL
----- Acquired: Bitten by a werewolf in town, possibly passing through. Unknown whether that one was Wild or not at the time.
Appearance: When changing, is usually locked to "huge wolf" and "long-legged, not-yet-bipedal wolf creature" end of the spectrum.
Other:
----- She was bitten by what she thought was a large dog, and had what she thought was the flu afterward. Then she started changing.
----- Was running as a wolf, but not completely "wild"; she was in enough control to be terrified. She didn't attack anyone unprovoked, and mostly either cowered in her apartment or skulked around the edges of the city. Anyone who saw her was just as terrified of her as she was of them, but of course, they had no way of knowing that.
---------- At first, thought she was just going crazy, but didn't really have anyone to talk to about this. When she heart the rumors, she was mortified.
---------- Reports of a monstrous wolf "terrorizing" the city spread. Finders came and caught her in wolf form, then coaxed her into coming with them to the Order.
Arystar Krory III
Strain: HL
Appearance: When changed, is mostly black, is large even by werewolf standards, and has overlarge, particularly strong teeth.
Other:
----- His teeth are sharper and stronger than normal, but this is just a genetic quirk that causes partial expression of lycanthropy even in normal form. Also prefers his meat bloody. That's the extent of it, though.
----- A rare case of IL affecting the presentation of HL. His strain had been dormant until he was infected with IL. The IL -- although dormant itself -- triggered the manifestation of his HL and was eradicated -- but not before it affected his particular line of HL slightly.
----- Is usually "split" to at least some degree, and doesn't always remember what he's been up to when changed. Had been running "wild" and attacking villagers, which is why he was found out. Unintentionally spread the virus at first.
---------- Fell in love with a beautiful young woman, Eliade, who had been visiting her family who lived in the village. Unbeknownst to him, she'd been turned into a Revenant and had also come to kill the villagers. He came across her killing one of the villagers, and ended up changing and killing her. He doesn't remember seeing her kill anyone.
--------------- He was despondent, and had already tried killing himself once, only to discover that he was tougher to kill than he should be. Before he could try again, Finders found him and managed to convince him to go to the Order with them.
Suman Dark
Strain: IL
Acquired: Bitten by a "wild" werewolf.
Appearance: When changed, mostly gray.
Other:
----- Had been living his idea of a perfect life, up until he saved his daughter from being attacked by a wolf. His hand was mauled. Finders were in the area, and took him away right away.
---------- They nearly took his daughter, too, before confirming that she'd been frail before and had had no contact with the wolf. There is a file on Suman's wife and daughter, and they are surveillance (in case they show any indication of being carriers).
Hevlaska
Age: Unknown; 100+
Strain: HL
Appearance: Locked as a giant wolf. Tawny and cream. Humongous -- larger than an elephant -- with strangely long fur (more like an Afghan Hound than a wolf, but just in that way)
Other:
----- Has been around for a long, long time. Because of a genetic quirk and early testing, she's been trapped in wolf form, slipping in and out of a deep, coma-like slumber for over 100 years.
---------- Sometimes she wakes up just enough, but only long enough to move around and settle back down again.
----- She is still housed in her own chamber in the Order.
----- She is psychic. She can communicate telepathically even while in a coma (although she can have trouble when it's very deep), and sometimes delivers prophecies.
Cross Marian
Strain: IL (unconfirmed; is really HL)
Appearance: As a wolf, has dark red fur.

----- Not affiliated with the Order, at least not currently. On the run.
----- Had previously been a scientist at the Order. When his lycanthropy manifested, he disappeared.
Klaud Nine

----- Acquired: A wild IL had been attracted to the sounds and smells of the animals she'd been working with, and ended up attacking her.
Other:
----- Has a pet monkey named Lau Jimin that she was allowed to bring. It had actually been attacked by the IL as well, but had survived. Is otherwise a very smart but normal monkey.
Winters Socalo
Strain: HL
Appearance: When changed, mostly black, but with some patches of gray and red. Huge and stocky.

----- First changed while on death row in a Mexican prison. Broke out, killing anyone in his way. Unclear whether he was split at the time or not. Was quickly captured by the Order with the expectation he would have to be killed, but to their surprise, he agreed to go with instead of die.
Kevin Yeegar

----- Was let out under strict supervision, for a "test run" of something left unexplained by the Order. (The bringing-trained-werewolves-out-on-missions plan.) He and the Finders accompanying him were killed.
---------- They were killed by the Lost Flock. They didn't try to hide it was them. The details of the deaths were ordered to be concealed, and as far as most of the Order knows, Yeegar went wild and killed the Finders before disappearing.
Experimental Shifters / Confirmed Experimental Theriathropes
(Therianthropes whose condition was created or significantly altered by the Order intentionally. All have/had different strains.)
Alma Karma
Age: 18 (physically, not chronologically)

Status: In stasis. Presumed dead by most.
Strain: Experimental infection.
Acquired: Purposely infected.
Appearance:
----- Normal: Picture Alma as a kid; now, picture Alma aged up to 18, and you're pretty much got it. Retains a relatively short tail even when in human form, although it's bonier and not as thickly-furred as a wolf tail.
----- Changed: Locked to a manwolf (bipedal wolf monster) creature. Short fur. Naturally black, but as the experiments went on, much of her fur turned light gray.
Other:
----- Before the Order institued a reform, there had been a forced 'breeding' program temporarily in place It had been meant to increase the ranks in coming years and provide more subjects for experimentation, and was also a cloning program. Alma was a clone created and altered to be an experimental super-soldier, having the experimental genes spliced into her as an egg. Her "original" had already died, and her surrogate mother did not survive childbirth because of her unintended rapid growth. Labor was induced as soon as the scientists realized what was happening, and they nearly lost both the surrogate mother and Alma. Alma's rapid development, both mental and physical, led her to have the appearance and behavior of a nine-year-old within three years, but this slowed to an apparently normal rate around puberty.
----- Werewolves have a greater-than-average tendency to have thought and mood disorders, but Alma was particularly unstable. She also went "wild" frequently. Eventually, for everyone's safety and to try to put her out of her misery, the Order found a way to put her in stasis.
Kanda Yu

Strain: Experimental infection.
Acquired: Purposely infected (a hybrid IL-HL strain created for experimental purposes by the Order).
Appearance:
----- When changed: Not quite a wolf. Developed some vaguely catlike qualities, and has a body type somewhat reminiscent of a greyhound.
Other:
----- Chronologically, maybe a year younger than Alma.
----- He has a tattoo that is really a magical seal. It seals away some of his power so he's able to control it, like a faucet regulating the flow of water. Without it, he'd have to transform much more often and would go wild much more often.
----- Was born normally to an IL and an HL, and was suspected to have one strain or another. The experiments started when he was less than a year old. He shared Alma's rapid development (which also, like hers, slowed again near puberty), but was more stable and responed to efforts to curb his changing.
Lala
Status: Dead; formerly EL.
Appearance:
----- Normal: Like canon.
----- Changed: Not... really wolf-shaped. Some sort of horrific, vaguely wolflike creature.
Other:
----- She'd been an early experiment. She'd been suspected to have what would be later classified as unexpressed HL, but whatever-it-was was greatly altered by the experimentation.
----- It basically left her with both the mind and body of a young girl, permanently.
----- She escaped once, but was recaptured, and experiments continued. As the Order's technology progressed, scientists replaced parts of her with early robotics. The new parts were meant to be as compatible as possible with her transformed state.
---------- Because of her lycanthropic healing, she survived. She could no longer transform without it being damaging and extremely painful despite the Order's best efforts.
---------- She escaped a second time after that, killing anyone who tried to stop her. Because Guzol had been kind to her, she brought him along in her escape. They fled to the city she'd been born in, only to discover that she'd been kept alive so long, it had been abandoned.
----- She was recaptured once more shortly after Guzol's death. Before any experiments could be run, and despite her apparent immortality, she simply passed away.
Guzol
Status: Dead.

----- Had been taken to the Order under suspicion of Lycanthropy. Eventually, they confirmed that he was not infectious and hadn't expressed any signs of HL; still, without any known family to care, they decided to keep him for the purposes of experimentation. ("For the greater good.")

----- While still a child, came across Lala (who had been captured a second time and was escaping a second time), and fled the Order with her. Even though they mostly lived in an abandoned city, they were happy, and he lived out the rest of his days with her.

----- Changed: Most commonly a massive wolf. Not as big as Hevlaska, but noticably larger than any other werewolf around. Also very ghoul-like.

----- Seemingly immortal. Has been around long enough to see at least several generations of other HL-2s pass by.
----- Can create Revenants.
Devit and Jasdero

----- Changed: Black and gold and white patches. Mostly mirror each other.

----- Devit and Jasdero are two separate people, but seem unable to transform unless in each other's presence.

----- Actually a different kind of therianthrope, since she turns into a panther instead of a wolf, but that's the only way her strain significantly differs from those of other HL-2s.

Position: Supervisor at the Black Order

----- Was heavily encouraged to go to the Order with Lenalee, under suspicion of having unexpressed HL, though this encouragement wasn't needed.
---------- Like canon, he joined and worked his way up. Unfortunately, being supervisor still affords him less control over what happens than the same title in canon, and he's not allowed to get any higher in rank with his (current, lifelong) status.
--------------- He does get to make some decisions, though. He stopped as much of the needlessly traumatic experiments as possible and tried to soften what remained. He lets werewolves get away with more than previous supervisors did.
--------------- He's in a somewhat precarious position as it is, since many people higher-up are not so comfortable with a suspected HL in that kind of position. If he'd been taken in by force, he couldn't have even gotten that far.
Fou
Status/Position: Like canon, a guardian deity.

----- Thinks werewolves smell terrible, but won't say whether someone smells like one or not unless they're confirmed.
Anita
Other:
----- Will help hide werewolves from the Order unless they've proven to be too much of a danger to everyone else.
Chaozii Han
Status: Werewolf; unknown to the Order

Family:
----- No living blood relatives. Considers his fellow sailors and Anita his family.
Other:
----- His pregnant mother had been attacked by an IL-werewolf, and although she died from her injuries and the infection, Chaozii became a werewolf. She lived just long enough to give birth to him, and Anita took him in.
----- Is usually very sweet-tempered as a wolf, and so doesn't cause trouble, though heaven help you if you threaten Anita or the other crew members.
----- Anita has forbidden him to bite unless absolutely necessary, since they don't need any more werewolves running around.
----- Because of his condition, he isn't as versatile a crew member as others. He may not be as likely to get sick or injured, but he could also spread IL at certain times if he's not careful. This makes him very eager to excel in any area he can, to help out and make up for what he can't do.
Apocryphos
Considered a local ghost story / legend. A mysterious creature that takes the shape of a particularly monstrous wolf, which tends to haunt the grounds of the Order (and the surrounding areas) and sometimes strikes down specific people for reasons unknown. Some variants of the story claim he was one of the first werewolves taken to the Order. Basically considered a ghost.
Really, is alive (for certain values of "alive"), was created around the same time as the Lost Flock, and is capable of handling that group easily. Is not bound to the full moon or anything other than his whims. Only rarely appears on the island and in other places in a recognizable-as-such form. Seems to have developed the ability to change human forms as well. Very few know the truth.

---------- Like canon, he joined and worked his way up. Unfortunately, being supervisor still affords him less control over what happens than the same title in canon, and he's not allowed to get any higher in rank with his (current, lifelong) status.
--------------- He does get to make some decisions, though. He stopped as much of the needlessly traumatic experiments as possible and tried to soften what remained. He lets werewolves get away with more than previous supervisors did.
--------------- He's in a somewhat precarious position as it is, since many people higher-up are not so comfortable with a suspected HL in that kind of position. If he'd been taken in by force, he couldn't have even gotten that far.

----- His pregnant mother had been attacked by an IL-werewolf, and although she died from her injuries and the infection, Chaozii became a werewolf. She lived just long enough to give birth to him, and Anita took him in.
----- Is usually very sweet-tempered as a wolf, and so doesn't cause trouble, though heaven help you if you threaten Anita or the other crew members.
----- Anita has forbidden him to bite unless absolutely necessary, since they don't need any more werewolves running around.
----- Because of his condition, he isn't as versatile a crew member as others. He may not be as likely to get sick or injured, but he could also spread IL at certain times if he's not careful. This makes him very eager to excel in any area he can, to help out and make up for what he can't do.
Apocryphos
Considered a local ghost story / legend. A mysterious creature that takes the shape of a particularly monstrous wolf, which tends to haunt the grounds of the Order (and the surrounding areas) and sometimes strikes down specific people for reasons unknown. Some variants of the story claim he was one of the first werewolves taken to the Order. Basically considered a ghost.
Really, is alive (for certain values of "alive"), was created around the same time as the Lost Flock, and is capable of handling that group easily. Is not bound to the full moon or anything other than his whims. Only rarely appears on the island and in other places in a recognizable-as-such form. Seems to have developed the ability to change human forms as well. Very few know the truth.
