Job Hunting Saga: Hope Floats

Apr 13, 2006 23:45

Claire is with her new job and her company is hiring.

In fact, her already big US company is expanding very fast in this region. It even bought over Hon's start-up company last Sunday.

She is going to refer me to the HR and if I get the job, we would be colleagues again. And I also know Hon, Leng and Quek, all working there now.

The only snag is this is the biggest competitor of my last company.

But then, they laid me off and I am jobless for 4 months. I need to pay my bills!

Jillian called and brought news that she is quitting her temp job with my 2nd last company, yes, the one where my direct superior tekan-ed me all through my 6 months stay.

I know I keep mentioning that. But really it's a harrowing time I couldn't forget.

That company is in the brink of closing down, so it's a blessing in disguise the CEO did not follow up with me for the contract position after my kopi session with him.

Jillian is moving to a manufacturing company with a promotion to be the BD manager and she ask if she could bring me in once she starts in May.

Why not? If they want me. Unless, of course, if I already found employment by then. But May is only 2 weeks away.

Now these 2 pieces of news turned the table around, they changed the whole outlook of my job hunt.

Now Korea might be further than I thought, the prospect of working under a potentially slave-driver boss with reduction of pay is not so attractive now.

There is a Chinese saying 雷声大, 雨点小. Whatever it is, I just hope it materialize and not just talking in the air.
