Guys can be kind of dumb when it comes to taking hints. If he is consistently doing things that make you sad I would keep track of the most common problems. After having a good idea of what the problem is to you I would devote a conversation you start to telling him about it. You have to point out that it is a big problem and things gotta change whether he likes it or not. You really gotta bash him over the head with it to make him realize the behavior has to change. I am speaking from my own experience but I have also heard this same complaint from a lot of girls. I think guys just don't get some of the stuff they do is dumb. Keep an eye on what he is doing though and most important trust your gut, its usually right.
