You never celebrated Halloween? Its a night were everyone dresses up in costumes and goes around town, knocking on people's doors, and they say "trick or treat" and people hand them candy. And if the people are stingy, then you play a trick on them, like TPing their house, or throwing eggs at their door. Lots of fun.
It's an American holiday. Most children celebrate it similar to how Naruto described. Many adults use it as an excuse to dress up in costumes and throw parties.
The original origins were as a pagan holiday, called Samhain. Dr. Orochimaru copied and pasted a small bit of the article, but the rest can be found here.
...Hope it helps... Perhaps Deidara can tell you more, as he says. Or at least explain better.
I believe that the original version is only honored by individuals of certain faiths, really.
The widespread American version is most certainly a bastardization of the original holiday. Many people find it fun to run amok on a night of mischief, and children find it as an excuse to load up on sweets. I think some also enjoy the idea of dressing up as something they are not and pretending for just one night. The only original elements commonly found are the costumes(though now done for amusement rather than protection) and partially the belief that the line between the world of the living and the dead is blurred(probably only acknowledged because it makes the night seem more "spooky").
I did not quite understand the concept either and had to look up the meaning on the internet. It is mainly meant to be a children's holiday, I believe.
That would be the perfect time to strike. After the amount that you would receive, pinpointing the source would be troublesome and if you use a touch base poison, then it would spread.
It's a stupid day where people dress up, pretending that they are someone else, but knowing that once they take their stupid costumes off, they'll still be the same person and have to deal with the same shit no matter how interesting/cool/scary/funny they look.
