Dodged a Major Bullet Tonight, I'm Calling it Karma and Pretty Much Leaving It at That

Mar 05, 2008 22:54

Not gonna belabor this one a lot because it could have been a whole lot worse. But I am thanking Jah or whomever is looking after me and feeling pretty good about always treating people with kindness and good will tonight. I decided that I would use the gas grill on my upstairs deck so the kids and I could have yummy grilled burgers for dinner. The ( Read more... )

Thank you sir! After frying up the burgers on the stove, sitting counting my blessings while eating dinner with my kids, I had to endure a rather lengthy lecture from my daughter about how hamburger was relatively unhealthy food. She's gettin' a little too smart for her britches if you ask me! Only a matter of time until she becomes a veggie, although she might not because her mom's brother, with whom nobody in life gets along, has set a bad example by boycotting my son's bar mitzvah party this weekend because the caterer my ex- is using serves veal. Not at the party, just in general. Nobody will miss him, at all.

I'm a truly horrible person - that made me laugh like crazy. But I am glad you're alright! Ditto everybody else recommending you get your eye looked at, too.

Sweetie: I will be the first to say that you are not a horrible person, since if it were not me that it had happened to and I knew the person was OK, I'd have been the first to laugh. And I will get my eye looked at today, since it is still tearing up and better safe than sorry, right?

Just a little gayer is not so bad. I had a similar mishap and had to get a crewcut because of it. That burnt hair stench is AWFUL.

Glad you're ok and ok with being gayer than ever. I give to you a commiserating skritch of the newly shorter, even gayer, goatee.

Thanks for the commiseration, my friend. It will grow a micromillimeter or two by Saturday, but who cares? I saw my ex-wife at a ceremony at the synagogue this morning and she didn't notice anything awry, not that she would have anyway. Yeah, that smell is NASTY, that's the only thing that I can't figure out, my kids are SMART as hell and they didn't notice it at all. And my beard and eyelash and even head hairs were oddly curled up at the ends. Oh, well, count ones blessings and move on. *skritch skritch skritch*

You are really lucky, that happened to me once....and since then, I've always approached using a gas grill with just a little bit of trepidation. Why don't those "self-starter" grill mechanisms really work?

Enjoy your son's celebration this weekend.

Yet another thing that the two of us have in common. Who knows why the limitations of these silly machines mess us up? Thanks, one down this morning and two more -- one tomorrow evening and the main one Saturday morning -- to go. According to the rabbi, "he's in" with the congregation this morning and the rest is a mere formality. Sounds good to me! He did really well, according to sort of a hunky dude that was there this morning his Hebrew was flawless. Stay tuned!

That's wonderful, I posted about this in your other post before I saw this one. It is really HARD to read Hebrew from the Torah where the Hebrew has no vowels. Actually, it can be quite challenging to read Hebrew period. Rock on!

OUCH! That sounds pretty awful! So glad that there was no permanent disfigurement. I did end up going to an optometrist today and turns out that it was just a few eyelashes that had turned in and were irritating my eye that was causing my eye to tear. Duh. So wassup for break?
