Anyone watch the all star game?

Anyone watch the all star game and get disappointed because they never played Jason Bay. I know he was chosen just because a pirate had to be represented but Jason Bay was rookie of the year last year.

Anyone think it was because of Tony Larossa hating Mcclendon?

I wish Bay would have had a bat or even an inning in the field!

Nah, I don't think it had anything to do with it. LaRussa probably didn't play him, because the game was close at the end. And I think he wanted to win the All Star game badly, because they got off to a bad start in last year's World Series and he wants home field in the Series this year. To be honest Jason still hasn't proven himself yet and he did do poorly the night before. So Tony probably didn't know if he could depend on him or not.

his best chance to get in was when it was 7-0, and they were still trying to make something of a comeback for those last few innings. it is kind of sad, though -- i read in the post-gazette today that he was the only position player on either side to not play. he says he wasn't too broken up about it, but after the home run derby, i'm sure it would've been pretty cool for him to try to redeem himself in the batter's box or out in the field.

To me when u get chosen to an all star game u should get some type of playing time whether it's a ph or even one out of play time in the feild. I can't believe he was the only player on either team to not play

The purpose of the All-Star Game is to see the best players in baseball *play*.

There's no excuse for not putting Jason Bay into the game, even for one inning in the field or one at-bat, especially when some batters had three at-bats. None. They were cycling in pitchers in the late part of the game for a couple batters to try to get them in the game as well.

I saw him during the game, when the camera went into the dugout. He was talking with someone, and looked like he was having the time of his life. It would have been nice to see him play, but it didn't appear to be bothering him any.
Maybe next year!

It didn't bother him, he even said so but to me everyone should play even one pitch, one play, out out!! ANything would have made his day even better. He will be back for many more all star games, and i know he isn't down about it but i feel he should have been in their. Hell he was the rookie of the year last year

Yes, I agree everyone should play. Especially Pirate players LOL If I don't see them on tv, I never get to see them play. It's kinda hard to get to the stadium from california LOL
He has a great career ahead of him, that's for certain :)
