Trades??

Jul 25, 2005 17:02

Here in the Los Angeles area, I have heard a rumor or two about a Pirate pitcher possibly being traded to the Angels. Are any of you guys hearing rumors? I thought the GM had decided not to butcher the Pirates this year by giving away players.

What's going on, Bucs fans??

I haven't heard no trade rumors with the Angels, just the marlin's and orioles!! The deadline is coming soon, and we haven't traded yet

not trading makes me a happy fan :) Sometimes I wonder how they expect the team to actually have the right season when they keep giving parts of the team away. I'm sure it is business wise, but it is irritating to me LOL

littlefield is going to do what he has to. we have a lot of pitching depth in our minor league system (duke & snell, who are both recent call-ups; as well as gorzelanny, et al.) i have heard a few rumors about kip wells going to the angels, but they weren't anywhere as loud as those about him going to philly.

The Wells trade makes no sense to me. What the Angels say they are looking for is a lefty to go to the bullpen. Maybe Angels owner Moreno is trying to help the Phillies make up their minds and grab Wells LOL

I would be really sad if Grabow or Gonzo, the two guys that fit that bill, went anywhere. Lawton or Redman should be moved if a suitable offer comes along. Other than that, I cant really see any moves coming. They do need a middle of the order bat badly if they want to compete next year. Personally, id like to see Giles come back as an FA if they can get him for less than $5 mil. Then, maybe Eldred or a healthy Craig can hit between Giles and Bay, and the team might score some runs.

Scoring some runs would be nice :) Sometimes it seem like the Bucs are feast or famine, one day they murder the ball, the next they cannot seem to hit it at all.
The dealine is soon to be, so we shall see what happens. The Angels are looking for a DH too, although I have no idea why, since they have a few guys already who can fit the spot if given enough playing time.

Supposedly the Angels want John Grabow. I have not seen or heard anything by the Pittsburgh press saying that the Angels want Kip Wells. And I watch all the sports programs around here & read all the papers & ESPN insider reports. The Phillies seem to be most interested in Wells, but they want Cota too. The only name that I'm familiar with that they say could be a Pirate is Larry Bigbie, but I don't think they need a player like him. Rob Mackowiak is about the same type of player he is. But Ward, Lawton, & Mark Redman should all go before the deadline, because they're free agents at the end of the season.

I was amazed when the local Fox sports guys were saying the Angels wanted Wells. I like Wells where he is LOL
The Angels do desperately need a leftie though, as the one in the bullpen is young and often careless with his pitches. Looks like the Angels should easily make the playoffs this year if they can stay healthy, but they just need a little extra help.

I'd be fine with a trade to the Angels if the deal was Wells & Grabow for Vladmir Guerrero, lol. They can even throw in Lawton or Ward if they want. I know that will never happen though, lol. I think the Pirates want a third baseman with power or a right fielder with some power & great defensive skills.

If they gave away Vladimir, my wife would be crushed! Angels have a kid who plays third and has power, in fact, they have a couple of kids like that, so maybe a trade will come out that helps both teams :)
