Jim Tracy is as good a choice as any. He has extensive experience in working with young players and did a solid job with the Dodgers over the past three years.
Maybe you'd like to give it a shot...too bad the search is over.
You obviously are not a Dodgers fan living in Southern California LOL I've yet to hear any of them sat anything good about Tracy or show any regret that he is gone.
Actually, I was kind of hoping they'd give it to Macha from the Oakland A's, since he is a hometown boy. Having worked with Littlefield in the past does not sound like all that good a thing, since most fans don't seem all that happy with Littlefield LOL
i was kind of rooting for macha, but i knew money would be a problem. oh well. i'm subscribing to the "anything is better than lloyd" theory, even though i really liked lloyd. unfortunately, he was given nothing to work with and he couldn't manage a little league team. still.. best of luck to him in detroit.
I feel sorry for him. I've been listening to the radio around here in Pittsburgh all day long and in about 6 hours of listening to shows only 1 caller has called in to talk about it. They said the same exact thing that you did. I don't think Tracy was the best candidate available. I would have preferred Art Howe or Kenny Macha, because both of them have won with small payrolls. Tracy is a good manager and a good choice, but he has won with a much bigger budget than what the Pirates have. It will be a challenge for him.
Littlefield and Tracy worked together in the Montreal Expos organization. That is probably why they chose him.
That does not seem like all that good a thing, Tracy and Littlefield working together in the past LOL I haven't heard any sympathy from the Dodger fans around here about Tracy leaving, so I am not sure he was all that hot a manager for them. But, people here can be hard to please sometimes LOL I just hope that we have a winning team next year :)
Now, off to get ready to see if the Angels can beat up the White Sox! (My wife is an Angels fan, I'd better cheer for them LOL)
I can understand Dodger fans feeling that way. Just last year they were in the playoffs, then they finished 20 games under 500 this year. He was keeping the team competitive before this year. That's really all we want at this stage.
Let me just say I am gald they beat the Yankees. I don't care which team wins the whole thing, but I am hoping the winner of the ALCS wins the World Series. I don't like Houston or St. Louis, lol.
I'm very glad they beat the Yankees! As my Yankee fan daughter would tell you, I really hate her team LOL Angels just beat the White Sox, so they are off to a good start in Chicago :) I will be pulling for the Angels, but if they lose, I will be cheering on the White Sox only because they haven't won if forever LOL
