I should probably be writing here about the reunion, the fun we had, and the misadventures we had towards the end of the trip. (Thanks again to my lovely wife thenay for all her help and understanding). But at the moment all I can really think about is a question. When are the adults going to be in charge again?

no kidding.

could you imagine the insanity that would take place if some airport official told me I had to leave my deodarant in a bin in the airport to be thrown away. MY GOLD DEODARANT that they no longer carry. The only deodarant which does not give me a rash...minus the fact that right now I have a rash...can you imagine?

grrrrrrrr.

makes me so angry, yet happy that we flew back to LA last week, and not today!!!!!
Could you imagine?

Well, Ned Lamont is onboard. He hasn't won yet, but we need to do some extra credit work before November. *All* of us!

Not that I regard a majority switch in congress as a bad thing, I don't see that as the sort of paradigm shift I mean. It would alter some tactical details, but I doubt it will mark any tectonic shift in world affairs, or even US affairs for that matter. US leadership will remain a bunch of squabbling, pandering, patronizing, feckless fools pushing soundbites and idealogy over leadership and real practical ideas. What I want, but don't expect is a return to pragmatic principle from either side. A return to reason would be nice, not just here, but worldwide. I can't give Europe any credit either, as their fecklessness is at least as bad, where the appearance of reason and diplomacy is more important than actual reason and diplomacy. I know a lot of people feel that small steps should be viewed with optimism, but I feel like Benjamin the Donkey.
