Happy Valentines day! As I am destined to be single forever (slightly dramatic, that I am) V-Day has never had much of a meaning for me. I get that some people hate it (commercialism, one day to show love, yes yes yes) but personally I still like it. Oh, man. Any particular genres you like? Artists you already love? There is so much awesome stuff out there it's hard to just choose a few things!

Well, for music finding, I use We Are Hunted. It catalogues new music that is garnering attention on music blogs across the globe. You can also view playlists made by users, and site ones such as Top 100.

A band that I recently discovered is Civil Twilight. You might've already heard of them, they're pretty big. Their self-titled album is really good and they have a new one coming out soon. They're indie-rock, I guess?

Another band I like is San Cisco. They're an Aussie 4-piece that make awesome music. This is total indulgent indie-pop!

A solo artist I like is the cousin of British indie singer, Ed Sheeran (the one with the song A-Team!). She's called Laura Sheeran and she's got a softer Florence Welch thing going on, with a bit of Regina Spektor and Amy Lee too? I dunno, I'm bad at categorising music. Her album "Music For The Deep Woods" is brilliant.

Another great talent emerging is Birdy, a wee girl from the UK with a stunning voice. Her self-titled album is brilliant, and she has done some stunning covers (Bon Iver's Skinny ( ... )

Ah sorry, totally forgot to reply to the last comment. My last.fm account probably gives a fairly good picture of what I listen to: last.fm/user/helium_lost But really, I'll listen to pretty much anything. :D

Thanks for the recs! They definitely look like things I might be interested in, so I'll check them out~
