Day 7
In your own space, share something non-fannish about yourself. A passion or a hobby or a talent, something that people might not know about you. We are more than just our fandoms. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I don't have one definitive hobby outside of fandom - I dabble in a lot of stuff. I enjoy baking a lot, and spend at least 2 hours a week doing so. I bake an awful lot of cupcakes - I've perfected my recipe and am now the master of cupcakes. To master icing is a different story, however.
I also enjoy playing guitar. I've been taking lessons for over a year now, and while I'm still pretty bad, I've set myself a new year's resolution to learn 12 songs, one for each month. I've been learning Coldplay's Fix You, a nice easy song to start off with. On the side I learned The Ballad Of Serenity and Just Dance by Lady Gaga. I've got two guitars (I sold one :[), a cheap acoustic and a gorgeous Epiphone electric in cherry red.
I can play loads of random songs, and know some theory too! My teacher is pretty awesome - he's so dedicated to his music. He worked his ass off and got a scholarship to Berkeley in Boston to study... something musical, I presume.
I also like photography - I haven't got amazing gear or anything, just a cheap dslr, but I've got the knack of using it. My sister said that I have an eye for framing photos, and I'd have to agree. They always look pretty awesome.
I also love running, so so much. I've restarted couch to 5k after an injury (not running related, actually!) that had me out for over a month. During that month I had serious running withdrawals. So now I am on week 3 day 2, and it's pretty hard going, but I'm going to finish it, or else I told my mum to give me a slap. I bought some really good runners too, which helps so much. I used to be really really fit, like top of my peak fit, and when I quit my karate, I lost that thanks to an addiction to the internet. I didn't keep up my daily runs, stretches and sparring sessions. I realised a few months ago that I really missed being able to run a few miles without even thinking about it, so I decided to get fit. And it's going pretty good so far!
EDIT: Holy shit, I somehow forgot about my two favourite things; singing and dancing. My whole life I've been singing and dancing about the place. I don't walk, I bounce. I am fandom's Brendon Urie in real life. I'll sing anything, rap, country, pop, even attempt to dubstep my way through my town. I don't have an amazing voice, I'm under no illusions. But it's not so bad it makes people cringe, so I go ahead.
I did Irish dancing as a child, and that kickstarted my love. I'm no trained dancer, but my style is a mishmash of theatre, street and ballet. My dance teacher was always exasperated with my constant dancing during the breaks. "You'll run out of energy," he said, and I just laughed, knowing that I wouldn't. (Seriously - when I'm bouncy, I'm freaking bouncy. I'm Ray-Person-With-Ripped-Fuel-And-Double-Shot-Espresso's bouncy.)
